Series 1

The Series one was the first to feature a chain drive. All subsequent Lambretta models adapted this principal. These models also began the feature of having handle bar or headset cast in alloy instead of the ealier model “motorcycle” type bars.

Version I to September 1958 Oval air intakes at the base of the side-panels (early examples through to June 1958), fixed, non-adjustable chain tensioner guides, air filter with metal mesh with air intake beneath the rear saddle, passenger grab handle on rear saddle.

125 LI only: earliest examples without leg-shield rubber profile trim and without steering lock.

Version II September 1958 – December 1958 Adjustable chain tensioner guides, cylindrical supplementary filter with paper element, passenger grab handle on front saddle, additional dust protection bellows on rear brake cable

Version III December 1958 – to end of production New induction system with oval filter and air intake beneath the front saddle, shorter exhaust tail-pipe collar, rear brake pedal with small spray guard.

First 1800 examples only: brake clutch control regulators functioning, subsequently locked with a pin.

Version II May 1958 – July 1958 Removable headlamp cowl with integrated horn grille, flywheel side roller bearings, stand mudguard, additional locking washer on rear wheel nut.

Version III July 1958 – to end of production Brake-clutch control regulators eliminated, additional rubber protection on rear brake cable.
